Sheet Metal Bending Methods

We utilize various CNC bending techniques to achieve the perfect angle and radius for your parts.

V-bending sheet metal forming using punch and V-die for standard angles

V-Bending

Most common method using a punch and V-die. Cost-effective for standard angles.

Air bending technique for flexible angle sheet metal forming

Air Bending

Material doesn't touch the bottom of the die. Allows for flexible angles with one tool set.

Bottoming press brake operation for high-precision reduced springback bends

Bottoming

Sheet is pressed fully against the die. Reduces spring-back for higher precision.

Coining metal forming with extreme pressure for highest precision bends

Coining

Extreme pressure imprints the punch shape into the metal. Highest precision method.

Supported Materials

Stainless Steel

  • 304 / 304L
  • 316 / 316L
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Ideal for medical & food

Aluminum

  • 5052 (Best for bending)
  • 6061 (Cracks if radius tight)
  • Lightweight & Conductive
  • Ideal for enclosures

Carbon Steel

  • Cold Rolled Steel (CRS)
  • Galvanized Steel
  • Cost-effective structural parts
  • Ideal for brackets

Copper & Brass

  • C11000 / C10100
  • C26000 (Cartridge Brass)
  • High Ductility
  • Ideal for busbars

Surface Finishes

We offer full post-processing to ensure your parts are production-ready.

  • Powder CoatingDurable, colorful finish for steel and aluminum.
  • Anodizing (Type II & III)Protects aluminum from corrosion and wear.
  • Bead BlastingUniform matte texture to hide tool marks.

Why Bending over Welding?

Designing for bending instead of welding offers significant advantages:

Strength & Integrity

Bending keeps the material continuous, avoiding potential weak points or cleaning required by welds.

Cost Efficiency

Bending is faster and cheaper than welding multiple pieces together. No filler material or complex jigs needed.

Metal Bending FAQ

What are the general tolerances for sheet metal bending?

Angle tolerance is typically ±1° to ±2°. Bend line positions are commonly within ±0.5 mm. Precision depends on material thickness and the bending method used (air bending vs coining).

What is the bend radius rule?

To prevent cracking, the minimum internal bend radius should generally be equal to the material thickness (1xT) for steel, and can vary for aluminum grades (e.g., 6061 needs larger radii than 5052).

Can you bend textured or pre-painted metal?

Yes, but care must be taken to avoid marring the surface. We use protective films and specialized urethane dies to prevent tooling marks on cosmetic parts.
