Factory and QC tour for prototype RFQs

Use this page to understand how DFocus can document CAD intake, CAM route planning, machining, first article checks, in-process inspection, finish review, packing photos, and export handoff evidence.

Photos are scoped by RFQ

Workshop, process, inspection, finish, packing, and export handoff photos can be included when requested before production. They are not implied for every quote by default.

In-house and vetted partner boundary

Some processes may use vetted partner capacity. If partner routing matters, ask the engineer to confirm which steps are in-house and which require outside capacity.

QC evidence by RFQ

CMM, FAI-style checks, material certificates, finish samples, and packing proof depend on geometry, tolerance, material, quantity, and agreed inspection scope.

Process tour

What buyers can ask to see before shipment

The tour below is a quote-planning checklist, not a promise that every project includes every photo or report. Required evidence should be agreed before production starts.

01

CAD review and DFM notes

Engineering reviews CAD, 2D drawings, material, finish, quantity, tolerance notes, and destination before confirming route fit.

02

CAM and route planning

Programming, setup approach, feature access, tooling constraints, and any partner routing are checked before production commitment.

03

Material prep and machining

Material grade, blank size, machine route, and visible process photos can be documented when requested in the quote scope.

04

First article check

First article photos, critical dimensions, and sample approval notes help reduce risk before a remaining batch continues.

05

Finish and inspection review

Surface finish, cosmetic faces, masking, color sample, thread checks, and tolerance records can be prepared when agreed.

06

Packing and export handoff

Packing photos, carton condition, labels, and carrier handoff evidence can be added for fragile, cosmetic, or deadline-sensitive projects.

Evidence matrix

Match proof requests to manufacturing risk

Ask for evidence where it changes a buyer decision: critical dimensions, fit risk, cosmetic acceptance, material traceability, fragile packing, or regulated documentation boundaries.

Stage
Proof to request
What it proves
Limit
Before production
DFM notes, route plan, material availability, inspection plan.
The project is manufacturable under agreed assumptions.
Final capability still depends on setup, feature access, and inspection method.
During machining
Process photos, first article photos, key measurement snapshots.
The project is moving through the agreed route.
Photos do not replace a dimensional report when critical tolerances matter.
Before shipment
Finish photos, CMM or FAI records, material certificate, packing photos.
Parts are ready for buyer approval under the agreed evidence package.
Reports must match the quoted scope; extra checks can affect cost and schedule.
Export handoff
Carton photos, labels, carrier handoff, tracking reference.
Packaging and shipment handoff are documented for logistics review.
Carrier transit and customs are outside the machining inspection scope.

Add photo proof to the RFQ before production

For quote-ready requests, send CAD, 2D drawings, material, finish, quantity, critical dimensions, deadline, destination, and the exact proof package you need before shipment.
